Canton Police Need Your Help | Crime
CANTON, GA -- On Tuesday, Dec. 7 at approximately 5:00 a.m., an armed robbery and aggravated assault occured at the Herndon Lane Apartments in Canton.
The suspect, Laanthony Dewayne Ward, allegedly entered the male victim's apartment and hit him in the head with a pistol. Ward then stole the victim's wallet, which contained a driver's license, a debit card and $300 in cash.
The victim was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, where he received treatment for his injuries and was released. He required stitches above one eye and had fractured bones, bruising and lacerations near the eye socket.
It is believed that this incident occured because the suspect and the victim were both having a relationship with the same female, Sheree Edwards of Canton, who was arrested and charged with False Statements and Obstruction in relation to the case.
Police are currently looking for Ward, who is considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be in Atlanta or possibly Alabama, as he had plans to travel there to attend a family member's funeral.
Ward is described as a black male, 5'10" and 170 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair that he wears in dreadlocks. He had valid warrants for burglary, aggravated assault and armed robbery.
