Cherokee High School to Host College Fair | Events
CANTON, GA -- Cherokee High School is proud to host the 2010 Cherokee County PROBE College Fair.
The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the CHS New Gym (930 Marietta Highway, Canton, 30114).
All high school students and parents are encouraged to attend, as it's a great opportunity to gather information from a variety of two and four year colleges and universities, technical colleges and the Georgia Student Finance Commission.
There will be a competitive college panel event immediately before the fair. Students who plan to apply to colleges with rigorous admissions policies should attend. It will begin at 5:00 p.m.
The panel will include representatives from Emory University, Georgia Tech, Mercer University, the University of Georgia and Vanderbilt University. They will address a number of important issues, including:
* What are competitive colleges looking for in applicants?
* How important are honors and AP courses?
* How do these schools view extracurricular activities?
* What should students be doing NOW to be competitive?
