DORAVILLE, GA -- The City of Doraville has lost a truly remarkable man, leader and pillar of the community.

On Monday, Feb. 7, city offices will be closed in honor and remembrance of Mayor Ray Jenkins, who passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 2 of complications from pneumonia. Mayor Jenkins had been battling the illness since late 2010.

The memorial service will be held Feb. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel (4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, 30319). The burial service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Veterans Cemetery Road, Canton, 30114).

Mayor Jenkins is survived by his wife Louella, three children (Beverly Evans, Karen Young and Douglas Jenkins) and four grandchildren (Willie and Brandy Jenkins, and Emily and Phillip Evans).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jenkins' name to Hospice Atlanta.
