Crime

WOODSTOCK, GA -- On Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 3:32 a.m., Woodstock police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery and motor vehicle hijacking at Suburban Extended Stay Hotel (106 Woodpark Boulevard, Woodstock, 30188).

The victim, 30-year-old Enrique Alba of Woodstock, told police that three men brandishing firearms and a knife stole his red 2003 GM Sierra pickup truck from the parking lot of the hotel.

At 3:51 a.m., Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies spotted the stolen vehicle traveling south on I-575 in Canton. The driver of the stolen pickup, later identified as 28-year-old Michael Joseph Sherlock of Augusta, Georgia, fled from police. Utilizing the Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver, a Holly Springs police officer successfully ended the pursuit on Sixes Road at Bells Ferry Road in unincorporated Cherokee County.

The front seat passenger of the stolen truck was identified as 33-year-old Sean Robert Bussard of Hephzibah, Georgia. Bussard was already wanted on an active arrest warrant for felony theft out of Augusta.

Sherlock was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and possession of marijuana. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for probation violation out of Augusta.

Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies stopped a third suspect, 31-year-old Joseph Leonquerrero of Hephzibah, driving a Lincoln MKZ on I-575 south at Barrett Parkway in unincorporated Cherokee County. All three men face charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Woodstock Police detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the early morning robbery.

"Because of the unison, training and inter-department teamwork, the suspects were captured quickly and without injury to the suspect, law enforcement officers or members of the communities," said Holly Springs Police Public Information Officer Lieutenant Tanya Smith.
