Woodstock Police Charge Employee with Internal Theft | Crime

WOODSTOCK, GA -- On Tuesday, Dec. 28, Babu Akhtar, 54, of Woodstock turned himself in to authorities on one count of felony theft by taking.
Akhtar, who was employed by ampm/BP (12152 Highway 92, Woodstock, 30188), is accused of overcharging customers for purchases and pocketing the differences.
The owner of the convenience store and service station reported the allegation to Woodstock police on Thursday, Dec. 16. The owner obtained evidence of the crime by reviewing video surveillance from inside the station.
It is suspected that Akhtar is responsible for stealing between $6,000 and $7,000 over a period of several months.
Akhtar was released from the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in Canton after posting bond on Dec. 28.
