CANTON, Ga. -- At 11Alive, we like to celebrate the positive things happening in schools.
For the next two weeks, our morning show is teaming up with our partners at NBC for Education Nation, an initiative to engage the community in conversations about education and explore new ways to reinvent America as an Education Nation.
All week long, we're surprising the winners of our Education Nation Facebook contest with $1,000.

Wednesday morning, our Kids and Schools Reporter Donna Lowry delivered the big check to Freedom Middle School in Canton.
Principal Karen Hawley said the school is going to put the money toward awards for their honors program and a concrete bench kids can sit on when they're waiting for their parents to pick them up from school.
Freedom Middle was one of the five schools that got the most votes in the Facebook contest.
