Knox ES students raise money for Milton HS coach

CANTON, Ga. -- Students at Knox Elementary School in Canton are pitching in to help a local family.

Mike Scott, an assistant football coach at Milton High School, has Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Scott and his family live in Cherokee County; his daughter attends Canton's Liberty Elementary School.

When the students at Knox learned of Coach Scott's diagnosis, they wanted to raise money for his family. So the school hosted a special Hat Day that netted $600 for the Scotts.

"This was a Cherokee Zone initiative, and we were so happy to be a part of it," Knox Elementary principal Kelly Page said in a statement.
