ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

A program called, Hope for the Holidays, will be held at the Art House in Buckhead. A hundred local artists will be displaying their creativity from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The event is being held to benefit a couple of local children’s charities in the area. This benefit will be donating funds to Jerusalem House, the Atlanta Mission, Chris Kids, the Children’s Restoration Network and Sheltering Arms. The Art House is located at 3193 Paces Ferry Place in Buckhead.

The McDaniel Farm in Duluth will be holding their fourth annual Civil War Holiday program from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The program takes a walk back to 1862 and tells participants how Union and Confederate soldiers marked Christmas during the Civil War. You can visit campsites, watch a drill or even make ornaments for soldiers’ trees. Admission to the program costs $5. McDaniel Farm is located at 3251 McDaniel Road in Duluth.

Of course, this weekend, the Georgia Dome will be hosting the SEC Championship Game against LSU and Georgia. The championship game will kick off at 4:00 p.m. The winner of this matchup will secure the title of 2011 SEC Champion and may be a contender in one of the better end of season bowl games. Tickets for this game are sold out; however, they may be purchased from a second hand seller. The Georgia Dome is located at 1 Georgia Dome Drive in Atlanta.

Also, the SEC Fanfare which will be held on Friday and Saturday will give fans a chance to show off their skills at the World Congress Center from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Fans can meet with former SEC stars, attend pep rallies and perhaps most importantly root for their favorite team. Admission into the Fanfare is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The Georgia World Congress Center is located at 285 Andrew Young International, Downtown.

This weekend, all Fulton County residents can get entry into the Center of Puppetry Arts. The Center of Puppetry Arts offers free admission to all residents on the first Saturday of every month. Currently, the center is showcasing the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer family performance. Check them out this weekend at 1422 West Peachtree Street in Atlanta.

The popular Dr. Seuss book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical is being transformed into a musical and it’s running at the FOX Theatre until December 4. The magic of Dr. Seuss’ comes to life and many will be able to sing along. The musical is being directed by Matt August and it was originally adapted by Jack O’Brien. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster. FOX Theatre is located at 660 Peachtree Street in Atlanta.

NBA veteran Shaquille O’Neal will host his first All-Star Comedy Jam Tour. And the tour will make a stop in Atlanta on October 7 The lineup will “likely” include comedians like Aries Spears, Corey Holcomb, Tommy Davidson, Capone, Gary Owen and Tony Roberts. The show will be held at 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway in Atlanta.

On December 3, the City of Riverdale’s will host their annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration. The tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Amphitheater at Riverdale Town Center. The Riverdale Town Center is located at 7200 Church Street in Riverdale.

 The Georgia State University Gala Holiday Concert will host a concert, in conjunction with, the University Symphony Orchestra, Choruses and Jazz Band, faculty and student soloists in works by Duke Ellington, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Schubert and more. The concerts take place at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 and 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Rialto Center for the Arts in downtown Atlanta. The Rialto Center is located at 80 Forsyth Street in Atlanta.
