Brief lockdown at 2 Cherokee schools | News
(WXIA) -- Clark Creek Elementary School and Oak Grove Elementary School in Cherokee County were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after police activity was reported in the area.
Police said they were searching for an armed robber who they said fled a nearby robbery on foot.
Authorities said a woman ran screaming from her home, saying five men had entered her home. Police said two of them were arrested and taken to the hospital, suffering from blunt force trauma. The remaining three suspects were later arrested.
The schools were placed on what Cherokee County Schools spokesperson Barbara Jacoby said was "Code Yellow" status -- which she said means all the schools' exterior doors were locked.
The lockdown was lifted a short time later.
