CANTON: Boil water advisory issued after water main break
News

CANTON, Ga. -- Canton residents are being advised to boil their tap water after an overnight water main break.

Many residents along Riverside Parkway and in Downtown Canton woke up without any water service Wednesday.

Canton Police Detective Candy Worthy said the water main had been repaired by 2:30 p.m, but the boil water advisory would remain in effect until further notice.

Water should be allowed to boil for at least one minute after it reaches a rolling boil, according to the city.

Cherokee County Schools spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said Canton Elementary School, Cherokee High School, Ralph Bunche Center and Tippens Center were all impacted by the broken water main, but the school system brought in bottled water and reserve tanks for back up.
