Connor Brunn: Ryan is my brother and I honestly think he is innocent. There's just no way he would do something like this. He's just a kindhearted person, like, ever since I've known him, ever since we were younger. We were always just playing basketball and everything. This is just some big mistake. They just got him on a big mistake. Just because he was working there (at the apartment complex where the victim disappeared). I just honestly think this was a big setup in his part.
Doug Richards: He'd just moved there, right?
A: He'd just moved there about three, four weeks ago. He just got a new job. He was going to make more money. We were working down at the Krystal's in Dawsonville and just honestly thought - like, this just shouldn't be happening right now. Like my mind is all cojoined. I just don't know what to think. I honestly just don't know what to say.
Q: Have you talked to him since this little girl was killed?
A: Yes, I've talked to him since and he just told me he wouldn't touch her like that, he wouldn't ever do something like that. Just like, this is just all bogus. I just can't - I don't know what to do.
Q: So he knew he was suspected?
A: Yeah. He knew that he was suspected but he never, like, thought that it would go to him. He was asked to help to go look for this little girl. And then he got brought into this. Like, this is so stupid. I just, I don't know what to say.
Q: And obviously they were looking for somebody who had access to the (dumpster)--
A: Yeah, had access to the things, but also you gotta think - there's other maintenance workers there, and there's also pedophiles. One lives right above the little girl. For Pete's sake, like, lives right above the little girl! And they honestly think my brother - a crime free guy that has no criminal background whatsoever. They just think it's him.
Q: When you talked to him over the last couple of days, was he scared of being arrested?
A: Yes, he was very scared. He didn't know what to think. Because he was being questioned for the last fourteen hours and whatnot and he just doesn't know - doesn't - thing is, he's never been arrested before. He's never went to jail. He's never been in the back of a cop car. Just been a good kid. This -- just out of the blue. This is something crazy.
Q: Did he have any indication why they were looking at him?
A: No. Just, I think they were looking at him because he was one of the maintenance guys there. But he's just one out of what, four or five other maintenance guys that work there? That can also have access to these other things that they do? I honestly will tell you, my brother is innocent. That's really all I've got to say.
