ATLANTA – It’s the summer time, ‘tis the season for chic fits, light fabrics, mandals, murses and clean faces and we know you want to let it all hang out. However it’s more important for today’s modern fashionmister to have clean and healthy skin. From cleansers to exfoliants, shavers to straight ravors, shaving creams to soaps, moisturizers and sunscreen men have a wide range of product selections to maintain their signature smirk.

Of course, every guy has their own routine; some skip a day to stay smooth others use a hot towel and facial scrub, either way; they all work to achieve the same goal which is smooth skin. Men can indulge in the same type of pampering that women receive at day spas and salons, however, there are a number of shortcuts that can be taken to achieve the same results.

Below, the Where U Live team has compiled a list of, both, shortcuts and indulgences for the man closet to you to achieve smooth skin for the summer time.

For the Buck on a Budget:

At your local Target, guys can purchase the Schick Hydro 3 Blade and a bottle of Edge Pro Gel Shaving Cream for under $10.00. Edge Pro Gel is considered a classic shaving gel and it’s widely used according to many. The gel was popularized by Charles Barkley in this commercial.

If you want to go fancy, check out the Gillette Fusion Power to tickle your electric shaver fancy. Some people say power shavers offer a closer and more comfortable shave. However, power shavers can cost anywhere from $13 to $25. Clippers can be purchased at many a department.

And if you’re a bonafied pro, check out popular Andis clippers and trimmers. Clippers can range in cost between $13 and $90. Clippers are usually used to cut hair, however, many guys practice using clippers to trim shape and maintain their desired facial hair length.

Also, Kiehl’s offers a line of men’s shaving and skincare products. Khiel’s Brushless Shaving Cream comes in the Blue and White Eagle varieties, one for acne-prone skin and the other for normal-combination skin, respectively. These creams range from $16 to $19 and can be purchased at any Kiehl’s retailer.

After shaving, it is recommended that men apply an aftershave. Nivea for Men makes a cost effective replenishing aftershave balm for normal-sensitive skin and it claims to leave skins noticeably moisturized and smooth. The lotion refreshes the skin without burning it and costs under $10. This moisturizer can be found at local drug stores like CVS or Walgreens.

Every day, in order to avoid ingrown hairs and unnecessary roughness, men can purchase a jar of St. Ives Apricot Invigorating Scrub for about $4 at any local drug store. This product works to gently scrub away dead skin cells and preps “would be” ingrown hairs for better daily shaving results. To avoid purchasing scrubs and such, some guys use a washcloth to slough away dead skin cells.

Another popular scrub is the Aloe Facial Scrub by Zirh. The scrub is said to “reduce the appearance of blemishes and blackheads by eliminating surface toxins and neutralizing excess surface oil. The scrub also works to remove dead skin cells from your face”. The scrub is packaged in a 3.4 oz tube, costs $20 and can be purchased at Nordstrom stores and online.

During the summertime, it’s recommended that everyone, including men, use sunscreen. Hawaiian Tropic offers an SPF 50 sun block lotion with time-released antioxidants for skin nourishments. The sun block costs about $10 at local drugs stores and it contains botanicals that soothe and moisturize your skin.
