Creekview HS marching band wins first championship | Schools

CANTON, Ga. -- The Marching Grizzlies band at Creekview High School in Canton recently won its first championship.

The band took the top prize in the Sound of Silver Marching Invitational at Pierce County High School in south Georgia.

Creekview principal Dr. Adrian Thomason said the Marching Grizzlies scored 95.9, the highest score of all 25 participating bands.

"This is a huge honor for a band program, but is particularly special for Creekview, as it marks the first marching championship in the band's history," Thomason said in a statement.

Band director Stephen McCarthy and his musicians will be recognized at the Cherokee County School Board's Dec. 6 meeting.
