BALL GROUND, Ga. -- It was a bittersweet final day of classes at Ball Ground Elementary School.
The school building, which has been in the same location since 1907, closed at the end of the 2011-12 school year. The 2012-13 school year will begin at a brand new campus on Valley Street.
The new Ball Ground Elementary cost $18.7 million and was funded with education SPLOST revenues. The building is more than 146,000 square feet, sits on 25 acres and was built to serve 1,200 students.
